Grandmas give the best advice, so why not take it from “everyone’s grandmother,” as Babs Costello is known to her two million followers on TikTok. She is after all a grandmother of eight and a mom of four. Her profile says, “sharing my wisdom and making easy family tradition recipes.”
Babs is giving out advice like cookies on everything from laundry, to gifts, to cooking, and our personal favorite: travel!
Babs shared advice on three things she always does as soon as she’s home from vacation and the one thing she does before she leaves.
1. Babs Unpacks
You’re either one or the other: You unpack right away or you leave your suitcase on your bedroom floor for a week. Babs says to get it done! “Unpack immediately, don’t procrastinate! Get ‘er done. Unpack immediately.”
Her unpacking hack? She and her husband — “Mr. Babs,” as she calls him — like to put all their dirty clothes in one suitcase and clean clothes in the other. That way, all the clothes from the dirty suitcase go right into the washing machine and the clothes from the clean suitcase can go right into your dresser drawers.
Oh, and her other suggestion is to put those suitcases away so you don’t trip over them in the middle of the night.
2. Babs Orders A Pizza
The last thing you want to do when you get home from a relaxing vacation is figure out what to make for dinner. That’s why Babs orders a pizza. “Keep it simple. Who wants to cook the day they get back?”
Babs says you can even take it a step further and have your groceries delivered the day you arrive home.
3. Babs Does Self Care
Babs says this is her most important tip when returning home from vacation. As Babs curls up in bed in the video, she says to take care of yourself by getting rest. “After you’re all done, you’re all set, things are unpacked, hop in the shower, get in your jams, and crawl into bed.”
4. Babs Puts Fresh Sheets On The Bed
Before Babs even leaves for vacation, she’s getting ready for her return home. She likes to put fresh sheets on the bed. “So when I crawl in, it’s heavenly.”
