8 fashion items I’m adding to my winter 2023 lineup

[ad_1]

I know there’s always a lot of talk about New Year’s resolutions, but I have a more complicated relationship with the concept. It’s like the moment when the clock strikes 12 in the morning and we start a new year, we think a whole new one SOMETHING it will start. Of course, January 1 is a new beginning, but this year, I decided to start, say, the new “beginning” a few days before 2023. Why? Because there is too much pressure around the first day of the month, in my opinion, and I can never live up to his expectations.

That’s why I spent the last few days of 2022 planning my workout routine (which I kept until the third week of the New Year, BTW) and cleaning out my closet, donating what no longer served me ( or as Marie Kondo would say, what no longer “sparks joy”). That means I started 2023 with an emptier cupboard – which was a huge sigh of relief for me. I felt lighter! I felt inspired again! And I was ready to buy with full intent in 2023.

So after getting rid of some of the old, I’m investing in some new, and thought I’d share my top picks for 2023 purchases with you, in case you’re in the mood for a refresh too. We hope this the sparks some inspiration (ink, wink).

Skims Soft Lounge Long Sleeve Dress

Nordstrom

I have my sister to thank for that. While home for the holidays, she wore this chic and simple Skims dress to a family dinner. It looked so elegant AND cozy, so I asked her where from – she replied “Skims” – and then asked if I could try it on. The fit was impeccable and the fabric incredibly soft, so naturally, I decided to invest in the $88 Long Sleeve Dress as well. This season and beyond I’ll be wearing it with everything from sneakers to over the knee boots.

Jenny Bird Be Bold Choker

Jennybird

I’ve developed quite an interest in big, chunky chokers—and I think I have the big, big trend to thank for it. But really, nothing dresses up a simple sleek turtleneck (which is my winter staple) like a bold necklace. This Jenny Bird is bold but still feels elevated and I know for a fact that I will have this in my collection for years to come. That’s why I’m okay with spending $278 on it.

Milly Sheer Wave Cami Dress

Milly

Here’s a promise: 2023 is the year I wear more color — or at least invest in some heroic pieces that aren’t black. When I saw this Milly dress, I fell head over heels for it. Combination of colors! Wave details! Clean middle! It’s the perfect combination of sexy yet stylish, and while I know Valentine’s Day is still a few weeks away, I’ll definitely be wearing this for a date night.

DL1961 Vintage Relaxed Wide Leg Zoie

DL1961

I’m a stickler for two things: oversized pants and anything from the durable denim brand DL1961. That’s why I’m making these wide leg jeans mine, stat. I’m obsessed with the cool, relaxed black wash, flared silhouette, and the waistband that sits higher in the back than the front. Talk about some detailing. They also have a very Y2K vibe, something I’m totally into at the moment.

Larroudé Blair Ballet flat in ivory tanned leather

Larroude

I will always love heels, but lately my attention has been on ballet flats. Maybe it’s because of the ballet movement that’s taken over the celebrity street style scene or maybe it’s because sensitive shoes are just that: sensitive. But whatever the reason, I’m adding new flats to my lineup and these Larroudé babies are at the top of the list. Can’t imagine them in cute cashmere socks this time of year? Ugh.

100% white mulberry silk fine feather nightgown with cosette

Small feather

I’m a sucker for a silk dress. At the time of writing, I currently own two, but I’m adding this Petite Plume number to my collection next, bringing that number to three. Although this is technically a nightgown, who’s to say you can style it for a night on the town? I say you can, and of course I will. The brand has a range of other great clothes, and has even won Gwyneth Paltrow’s seal of approval – so even if this slip dress isn’t for you, I’m sure you’ll find something else you like.

Favorite Girl Favorite Pants Pants

Nordstrom

Last year was the year I really got into pants, and I’ll continue to do so in 2023, which is why I’m investing in this pair from Favorite Girl. There’s nothing like the feeling of slipping into power pants to brighten up a dreary morning. They’re stylish, comfortable and versatile, so they take very little thought to style. My favorite way to wear them at the moment is with relaxed tops and sneakers for a more flirty approach.

Classic Sheertex Sheer Tights

Sheertex

There is no time like the present At last invest in tights that won’t tear the second I step into them. I’ve heard great things about Sheertex socks (my friend owns a few pairs and really turned me on to them), so I finally decided to add them to my cart while some styles are on sale. I love a sleek black pair for everyday wear, but you can also get cute polka dots or a sexy back pair if you want something more intriguing.
