NORTHERN UTAH – Comcast has announced the completion of a $4 million expansion of its smart, fast and reliable fiber-based network in Northern Utah. The expansion will bring residential broadband speeds of 1.2 gigabits per second (Gbps) and commercial speeds of up to 100 Gbps to nearly 2,000 additional homes and businesses in Kaysville, South Ogden, Bountiful and Farmington.

As of May 2019, Comcast has invested nearly $6 million to expand its network to new locations in northern Utah. With this project, and more recently in Sandy, Park City and Ogden, Comcast now reaches nearly 3,500 additional Northern Utah homes and businesses. Comcast is expanding its network in Salt Lake, Weber and Utah counties, making the network accessible to thousands more by 2023.

“Davis welcomes Comcast’s continued investment in our community. Such a broadband expansion project will strengthen workforce development and virtual education and employment, said Daviess County Commissioner Loren Kamalu. “Strong broadband infrastructure will make the district attractive to businesses looking to locate or expand their operations here. I am grateful for Comcast’s commitment to expanding broadband access in critical areas of Daviess County.

Utah State Senate President Stuart Adams said, “Reliable broadband services are essential for Utah to grow and welcome those who come to the state for business and for a better quality of life.” It proves that it can.”

“We live and work in Utah, and our commitment is to deliver innovative, reliable and affordable broadband service to everyone within reach,” said Chris Dunkeson, VP Technical Operations, Comcast Mountain West Region Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. “The company has invested $416.1M in technology and infrastructure upgrades over the past three years alone.”

This initiative provides free high-speed WiFi access and hundreds of hours of educational and digital skills information to help Utahns and site coordinators pursue online education. Comcast will provide laptops, smart devices and digital literacy training to help better serve individuals in different lift zones.
