A new crop of climate adaptation companies is coming to New York City to grow.
“Adapting to climate change needs to know what’s going on in the field at the local level with genetics but also with data,” said Martin Ducroquet, founder of SunCrop, a company that provides farmers with new tools to manage the weather. Conditions and they raise their products.
Sencrop is one of dozens of startups that have set up shop at the new International Climate Technology Center in Soho, a partnership between UrbanX – a platform for new companies to evaluate urban life – and Jerusalem Venture Partners.
“It’s exciting for us to see New York’s resurgence after Vivid and New York’s innovation center taking over San Francisco,” said Erel Margalit, founder and chairman of Jerusalem Venture Partners and Margalit Startup Cities. .
Another company that receives venture capital is Copilot.
It aims to reduce environmentally harmful product returns by providing customer support in the electronics sector.
“Millions of products are being shipped, 10% of which are being returned. Now notice, most of what is returned is going into the landfill,” said CoPilot founder and CEO Frank Zvi.
A common place for all these companies and their employees is considered to be the key to their success.
“If we’re migrating to companies, we’re suggesting that if they’re doing something new, going back to the office will make them more productive,” Margalit said.
The center’s founders hope these companies can expand their sustainable solutions to make New York City the green investment capital of the world.
