Capital equipment assistance program

Vermont Agricultural Food and Markets Agency Applications are now open for the Capital Equipment Assistance Program (CEAP). The Vermont Division of Agriculture, Food and Markets Water Quality has funding for new or innovative equipment.

The funds are used to reduce agricultural water surface runoff, improve water quality, reduce odors from phage application, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and more.

We welcome applications from Vermont farms that need to comply with the required agricultural practices, custom operators, nonprofit organizations, and phosphorus extraction equipment manufacturers.

Examples of qualifying equipment include conservation tillage equipment, tillage drills, roller crimpers, precision farming equipment and more.

Generally, the program covers 90% of the cost of the device with different limits depending on the type of device. Applicants are limited to one application per individual practice/organization/entity.

WLEI Business Development Grants

Farm, food and forestry businesses can apply for Working Lands Enterprise Initiative Business Enhancement Grants now!

The Working Land Enterprise Board is requesting a $450,000 grant that will allow Vermont farm, food and forestry businesses to invest in business improvement initiatives such as markets, infrastructure and workforce development.

Business Enhancement Grant award amounts range from $20,000 – $35,000. The Business Enhancement Grant was formerly known as the Standard Business Grant.

Vermont Building at Big E

The big E is coming! From September 16th to October 2nd, visit the Streets of the States during the Big E, the only show in America where more than one state participates.

Along this educational trail, you’ll see stunning replicas of each New England state’s original statehouse on real state-owned land.

The Vermont Building will be filled with a long list of Vermont vendors including Eden Ice Cider, Halladay’s Harvest Barn, Bergamot + Amore, Triline Land, Nomad’s Kitchen, KIS Kombucha and more.

Vermont Day is Saturday, September 24th. Last year, nearly 170,000 people attended Vermont Day at the Big E, so get your tickets soon!

Slaughter on the farm questions and answers

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets is holding a virtual question-and-answer forum for those interested in on-farm slaughter.

Join Julie Boisvert, Head of Meat Inspection, for an overview of information, to address misconceptions and an open and welcoming Q&A session.

Ripsawing - why and how demonstration

Join the VT Grass Farmers Association and UVM Extension for a demonstration and overview of Vermont Ripsowers.

Vermont Ripsower is a combined soil, seed and liquid biostimulant injection. It aims to improve yield, pasture quality, topsoil, biodiversity and more.

Attendees will get an overview of the theory and basic history of ripping, see the results, and learn how to operate the recorder properly.

This free demonstration takes place at Larson Farm in Wells, Vermont. Registration is required.
