The Cayman Islands has eliminated all Covid protocols for travelers while Bermuda has tweaked, but not eliminated, its entry requirements, the latest examples of island destinations rolling back Covid-era entry rules.
In the Cayman Islands, incoming travelers are no longer required to provide their vaccination status, and unvaccinated tourists can enter without having to quarantine. Visitors will no longer be required to obtain permission from Travel Cayman to enter.
In his announcement on Aug. 18, Premier Wayne Panton said that “we hope and pray this will be our last specific Covid-19 press briefing,” according to the Cayman Compass.
In Bermuda, unvaccinated visitors must have valid travel health insurance and must upload proof of it to their Travel Authorization form for approval. In addition, unvaccinated visitors must take a Covid test no more than two days before arrival and then test again on day 4.
“The pandemic is not over, but today, Bermuda has the necessary tools and processes in place to protect ourselves and our communities,” said Tracy Berkeley, interim CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
“Our updated travel protocols will streamline the process for visiting our island, further boosting Bermuda’s tourism comeback in 2022.”
