After the great success of Love IslandeBay UK’s 2022 style collaboration, designer and vintage clothing expert Amy Bannerman, is back with four new edits for this year’s set of islands. For winter Love Island In 2023, Bannerman is focused on the fashion mindset of “reflective dressing,” in which she hopes to encourage viewers to “be reflective in the way they shop and the way they dress.” As such, the edits are called Heavy Metal, Tutti Frutti, Business v. Party and Dressed Up Denim.
On the continued focus on fashion, eBay UK commented: “Following the impact that the partnership has had over the last few years in changing the conversation around fashion, we are delighted to continue to change the dial with this new mindset. If we can inspire fans to buy or sell just one favorite piece of clothing this year, we’re on the right track.”
Just like in 2022, Bannerman has compiled a wardrobe of second-hand pieces to outfit the contestants, ranging from bright and colorful items to rock’n’roll skins. Some items have been given a makeover – dresses have been shortened and graphic prints have been added to designer pieces. Heavy metals
Inspired by Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s paired-down style — Kravis, for fans — this edit takes the ” Love Island clothing on the dark side,” Bannerman said. She aims to bring back “rebellious dressing” with this collection, offering a range of choices such as “metallic skirts, leather jackets and vintage jackets”. For the designer, this modification and “trend feeds on self-expression and showcasing pre-loved classics that will last a lifetime.”
The collection combines “classic heavy metal with current fashion,” with Bannerman noting that designers on the runway are “going OTT with palettes and crystal edges.”

Tutti Frutti
Dopamine clothing is back this year, but with a twist. Bannerman has shifted her focus to “all about pinks, yellows, oranges and blues integrated into an explosion of neon jackets and bright pieces,” instead of last summer’s clash of florals and Hawaiian prints.
Noting that more and more people are “dressing to enhance their mood” and are “moving away from neutrals”, the designer loves “how this trend really brings out one’s personality” and that it can be achieved “so just with just one bold item in an outfit, or top to toe, depending on how bold you’re feeling.”

Business vs Party
This edit is about “combining party wear with poor tailoring” for Bannerman. Taking inspiration from Bella Hadid and Pete Davidson, expect to see “luxurious shirts with smarter trousers” and “crystal pieces paired with blazer dresses” as the islanders get ready for their nights out.
The vintage specialist noted last year’s most sought-after trends, including oversized shirts, cropped jackets and shirt dresses when putting together this collection.

Dressed denim
There’s nothing better than rocking some double denim, and what better way to encourage breaking out some pre-loved jeans or midi skirts than with “dressed denim.” Bannerman also hopes to encourage people to wear denim that “can be refurbished to give the pieces a new lease of life.”
Girls will find a treasure trove of “classic co-ords and fitted suits” in the cottage wardrobe, while boys will see “loose loose shirts paired with long shorts.” As Bannerman rightly concluded, “there are many ways you can wear denim.”
