Creative educator Frank Brown has been named to head the College of Business at UW Oshkosh


Following a nationwide search, seasoned academic leader Frank Brown will begin Jan. 17 as dean of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s College of Business.

Brown currently serves as a professor at the University of Arkansas–Little Rock School of Business, where he also serves as dean of the College of Business, Health and Human Services.

“Dr. Brown has demonstrated a strong and diverse track record in teaching, scholarship and program development, as well as college, university and private sector service,” said UWO Provost John Coker. He is a creative teacher.”

At UWO, Braun takes over for Barbara Rau, who has served as dean since June 2017 and is stepping down to return to the COB faculty.

He previously served as Dean of the School of Business and Professor of Business and Health Informatics at Baldwin Wallace University. Prior to that, he spent 18 years as a faculty member and held various administrative positions at Northern Kentucky University. His research interests include entrepreneurship and innovation, organizational reliability and resilience, and project leadership characteristics and outcomes.

“I believe Frank’s vision for higher education, teaching and administrative experience in undergraduate and graduate business programs, commitment to success, and experience working with students, faculty and staff will make him an effective leader for the College of Business,” Coker said. .

Brown earned a doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, a master’s of business administration from Xavier University, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering and computer science from Miami University of Ohio. Brown is active in the cyber security domain and holds the Certified Information Security Administrator credential.

Brown brings to the college both executive and entrepreneurial industry experience. As a Chief Information Officer for over a decade, he developed and delivered current strategies and innovative practices. From 1998 to 2014, Brown served as President of Dr. Biz Analytics Ltd., an information technology and management consulting firm.
