Fiore goes into business with ex-councilman who resigned over wire fraud – The Nevada Independent


Las Vegas City Councilwoman Michelle Fiore and former councilman Ricky Barlow, a lobbyist who resigned from office in 2018 and pleaded guilty to misusing campaign funds, quietly started a business together two years ago.

According to filings with the State Department, Fiore — now a Republican candidate for state treasurer — and Barlow filed business registration papers in July 2020 as “Black and White Justice for All, LLC.” Fiore and Barlow are both listed as managers of the business, whose address matches the same address listed for Barlow’s lobbying firm.

Black and White Justice for All did not renew its business license in 2021 (it is listed as revoked on the Secretary of State’s website), and Fiore did not file the annual financial disclosure required by state law. .

In the year Barlow, who was first elected to the Las Vegas City Council in 2007, resigned in 2018 amid a federal investigation into his misappropriation of campaign funds during his 2015 re-election campaign. He admitted to misappropriating $49,125 of his campaign funds through the scheme, and pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud. He was sentenced to one month in jail, three months in a halfway house and eight months in prison.

Fiore Barlow’s support announced “Ballow’s public service has left a lasting mark on Las Vegas, and I am grateful for his support,” the councilwoman said in a statement on Aug. 22, her campaign treasurer. Barlow is a Democrat.

A spokesman for Fiore’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
