Five reasons to attend the Virginia Tech women’s soccer tournament in South Carolina


The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team will begin its undefeated season on Thursday, September 8, when fourth-ranked South Carolina visits Thompson Field. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m., and admission is free.

Below are five reasons why you should not miss this match.

1. Thursday’s game is a clash of undefeated teams. Both Tech and South Carolina enter Thursday’s matchup without a blemish in the loss column. The Hokies are 5-0-1 while the Gamecocks are 4-0-2 through six games. It’s been nine years since Thompson Field went on a six-match unbeaten streak.

2. Tech has started the 2022 campaign on a high. The Hokies have been unstoppable offensively so far this season, scoring 17 goals, their most in six games since 2014.
