Gorillas, Gethir and Gizhak will be major players in retail delivery – the center of retail technology innovation

Quick grocery delivery firms must change their business models to survive in a highly competitive and rapidly changing landscape.

That’s the opinion of supply chain consultant and former Amazon executive Brittain Ladd.

“I was one of the first consultants to write about the topic of Rapid Grocery Delivery (RGD). I wrote my first post in 2020,” he said in a LinkedIn post.

“Now that it’s 2022, I haven’t changed my mind about what it takes for RGD companies to succeed. In the year I continue to believe that what I posted in 2020 was correct.

He argues that the future of the space cannot be focused solely on grocery.

Consumers will soon start asking why they can get their groceries within 15 minutes, but not handbags, cosmetics, clothing, shoes, electronics, etc. at the same time.

“The need for speed will be the spark that changes retail and logistics,” he wrote.

Well-managed RGD companies, instead of focusing solely on merchandising, will transform players who can deliver across categories and become ‘real-time retail delivery’. Fast trade should exist in all categories.”
