Jackets represented in ITA preseason rankings – Women’s Tennis – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets


The plates – Boasting two doubles teams in the top 10, Georgia Tech women’s tennis was represented in the preseason ITA College Tennis National Rankings on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets also placed third in singles.

After finishing last season earning ITA All-American honors, the Georgia Tech doubles team of Carol Lee And Kate Sharabura He doubled as No. 1 in the country in the early polls. Lee and Sharabura went 22-6 overall and 17-3 in combined play last season, primarily out of the No. 1 spot. The Jackets earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship and finished the season ranked No. 5 nationally.

Georgia Tech is the only program with two doubles teams ranked in the top 10. Ava Hrastar And Kylie Bilchev He entered at number 9 in the pre-season rankings. The pair went 12-8 combined for a 21-10 overall record last season. Hrastar and Bilchev made an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship, beating two nationally-ranked teams and reaching the quarterfinals to earn All-America status.

In the preseason singles rankings, Georgia Tech placed three yellow jackets in Lee (No. 16), Bilchev (No. 73) and Hrastar (No. 118). Leading Tech from No. 1, Lee posted a 25-8 overall record and an 18-5 dual record last season. The All-ACC first-team selection rose to No. 22 in the ITA national rankings and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA singles championships.

In her first collegiate campaign, Bilchev went 17-11 in singles, 17-11 overall, and went 8-4 at No. 3 points. She was ranked in the top 100 the entire dual season, earning All-ACC Third Team recognition. Hrastar posted a 19-14 record, including an 8-5 ACC mark, in Tech singles. Jackett joined Bilchev on the All-ACC third team.

Georgia Tech opens its fall slate at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic, Sept. 16-18.
