But on Tuesday night, Kourtney Kardashian shrugged off the controversy, taking her seat in the front row with husband Travis Barker as her Boohoo collection debuted during New York Fashion Week.
The 43-year-old star wowed in a $35 black lace jumpsuit from the collection and a faux leather jacket as she beamed during the Boohoo X Kourtney Kardashian fashion show.

The loved up couple, who tied the knot back in May, also engaged into a steamy PDA session during the star-studded show.
The mother of three donned a long-sleeved sheer jumpsuit for her big night, which revealed her matching black bralette and shorts; she added an ankle-length leather coat, boots and small framed sunglasses.
The jumpsuit from her collection, called the Kourtney Kardashian Barker Lace Long Sleeve Catsuit, and retails for $35; the jacket was also from her collection – it is called the Kourtney Kardashian Barker Faux Leather Overcoat, retailing for $90.

After the collaboration was announced last week, social media went into overdrive, pointing out the Kardashian’s family reputation for excess, while some slammed Boohoo for using the celebrity association to ‘greenwash’ its reputation, following public criticism of its business practices.

The star’s collaboration with the company also includes social content in addition to the two collections. The first of two collections includes 46 limited-edition pieces using recycled fibers, traceable cotton, recycled sequins and recycled polyester.
Kourtney wrote on Tuesday on her Instagram: ‘I went back and forth about this collection @boohoo because the first thing I think about when I hear the words “fast fashion” is that it’s bad for our planet.’
She continued, noting that she expected the ‘backlash’ ‘because the two just don’t go hand in hand’ but hopes the partnership will end up raising awareness on the ‘impacts of fast fashion on our planet.’
‘I thought about the fact that fast fashion, or the fashion industry in general, isn’t going anywhere,’ she added.

The collaboration has been heavily critcised with one tweeter summing it up last week as: ‘A private-jetting Kardashian worth $65 million is now ‘sustainability ambassador’ for fossil fuel fashion brand boohoo, where she’ll chat ‘with sustainability experts to better understand challenges and opportunities in the fashion industry.’ We absolutely KANNOT.’
