RPC has hired a technology lawyer as a partner for its joint legal practice RPC Premier Law in Singapore.
Nicholas Lau, who advises on high-value contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and technology-related deals and matters, was most recently a partner at Singapore firm Raja & Tan, where he practiced for 14 years. Lau joined Rajah & Tan in 2009 as a senior associate and became a partner in 2013.
Lauw has more recently represented both companies and individuals in the Web3 space on issues related to virtual tokens, decentralized online platforms, personal data collection and tokenization of digital assets, the firm said in a statement.

RPC recently lost Singapore dispute partner Summer Montague at DAC Beachcroft although the firm has made some key moves in the Asian market over the years. Earlier this year, RPC hired Peter Kwon from Ashurst to launch a Korea desk in Hong Kong.
Last year, he also added Andrea Randall, a new work partner from Gal in Hong Kong. The biggest move came in 2020 when the firm hired eight lawyers from Bird & Bird ATMD, led by three partners – Boy Swe Siang, Navin Joseph Lobo and Lin Yuankai.
Globally, RPC has four offices in London, Bristol, Hong Kong and Singapore. Sasi is based bilaterally in its two Asian offices. In Singapore, RPC has been operating its joint legal practice since 2016, and the firm now has 21 lawyers, including nine partners. In Hong Kong, the firm employs 32 lawyers, including 12 partners.
Two months ago, RPC reported an increase in global turnover but a decline in earnings per equity partner (PEP) in its interim financial results for 2022.
