IFA 2022 is here, it doesn’t officially start until tomorrow, but we’ve got tons of announcements and they won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Today, the Berlin faithful were shown new tools from Lenovo that will help you stay productive. Lenovo is introducing two new tablets, the Lenovo Tab P11 (2nd Gen) and P11 Pro (2nd Gen), as well as the new Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook and the powerful Lenovo 16p Gen 3. The 5i certainly looks like it can do ours. Best Chromebooks list, the 16p Gen 3 may compete for a spot among the best workstation laptops, but only time will tell.
Lenovo’s focus on these new devices is to continue to respond to the needs of people focused on remote work. Consumers have come across essential devices with longer battery life and better cameras for all the Zoom, Google Meets and other video conference meetings we’ve all moved to in the past couple of years.
Let’s take a closer look at what Lenovo brings to the table this time. Perhaps these two new tablets have a shot at joining our best tablets list.
Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook
Featuring the latest iteration of the IdeaPad, the 5i is a truly beautifully designed Chromebook, with the color on its gorgeous two-tone back cover appealing to a more sophisticated curb appeal than the average Chromebook.
The IdeaPad 5i features a 2.5K LCD 16-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate and a claimed maximum brightness of 350 nits. You also have the option of a FHD 1080p resolution screen at 60Hz with a maximum brightness of 300 nits. Both display configurations have a 180-degree hinge for flat use.
The IdeaPad 5i comes with two CPU options. Intel Core i3-1215U 12th Gen processor or Intel Pentium 8505 processor. The 5i comes with the option of 4 or 8GB RAM and 256 or 512GB SSD or 64GB or 128GB eMMC flash memory. The Chromebook offers an FHD 1080p webcam and is rated for up to 12 hours of battery life.
The Lenovo 16-inch IdeaPad 5i measures 14.3 x 10 x 0.8 inches and weighs 4.1 pounds. The 5i has a microSD card slot, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one 3.5mm combo audio jack, and a Kensington Nano. It has several ports including a security slot.
The Storm Gray Lenovo IdeaPad will be available for purchase sometime this September, with pricing coming soon.
Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 3
Lenovo’s 16p Gen 3 packs powerful AMD Ryzen 9 6000 H-series processors and Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU goodness to make a mobile workstation that appeals to creators on the go at 4.4 pounds. With up to 32GB of dual-channel LPDDR5 memory and up to 2TB of dual-SSD storage, this price should be a powerful enough workstation.
Open the lid and you’re greeted with a beautiful 16-inch 2.5Kps display with TUV Rhineland Low Blue Light and Eyesafe certifications to protect your vision. You can decide between a 400 nit 60Hz panel or a new 500 nit 165Hz option with HDR400 certification. The 71Wh battery will get you through a full day of light use or several hours of more demanding tasks, but we’ll test it ourselves over time.
Around the outside of the laptop you have two USB Type-C ports (one is USB 4), a pair of USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and an HDMI 2.1 port. The 1080p IR camera offers Windows Hello support and should let you leave that external webcam behind. Dolby Atmos audio should make this a great option for portable entertainment on your vacation.
Starting at $2,379 and arriving later this year, we’ll have a full review in the coming weeks.
Lenovo Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen)
The taller sibling of the Lenovo Tab P11, the P11 Pro is a powerful Android 12 tablet with a Cinema 11.2 OLED touch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision HDR that lets you enjoy hours of entertainment or work. The screen is rated at 600 nits of brightness, so daylight viewing should be a breeze.
If you’re a gamer, the 120Hz refresh rate screen and 360Hz touch response speed will be right up your alley. The P11 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Kompanio 1300T octa-core processor with 4GB to 8GB RAM options and 128GB or 256GB storage. Unlike its sibling, the P11 Pro comes with a ThinkPad-inspired detachable keyboard with a built-in trackpad if you want to use it as a laptop. If you want, you can buy the optional Lenovo Precision Pen 3. You can also purchase the optional folio case.
Lenovo’s 11.2-inch P11 Pro features Quad JBL Speakers and Dolby Atmos, Dual microphones for a great audio experience while making important calls. The P11 Pro comes with USB Type-C 3.0 with DP-out so you can connect it to an external controller.
The Lenovo P11 Pro weighs just 1.05 pounds and will hit the market with a starting price of $399.99 and expected availability starting in September 2022.
Lenovo Tab P11 (2nd Gen)
The Lenovo Tab P11 is a very attractive Android 11.5 inch tablet powered by MediaTek Helio G99 Octa-Core processor. The P11 comes with three different RAM and storage options, starting with 4GB / 64GB, 4GB / 128GB, and 6GB RAM with a 128GB option and an expandable SD card slot if you want to add more storage.
The P11 comes with an 11.5-inch 2K (2000 x 1200) resolution touchscreen display, with a brightness level of 400 nits and a refresh rate of 120HZ. Your color options for the P11 are Storm Gray and Sage, and I have to say that both are great options. I’ve had a little time with the P11 and I found it very slow when opening multiple Chrome tabs. By the way, the quad speakers with Dolby Atmos are great for a tablet, and the dual mics do a solid job.
The Lenovo P11 weighs a hair over a pound (1.1) and comes with a 7700 mAh battery with 12 hours of use. USB Type C 2.0` and a 3.5mm audio jack (remember those, Apple?) come with Wi-Fi 5 on the LTE model and Wi-Fi 6 on the non-LTE version. You can purchase the optional Lenovo Precision Pen 2 (2023), keyboard bundle, and folio case to take your user experience up a notch.
Lenovo’s new Tab P11 will start at $249.99 and is expected to be available from September 2022.
