Showing the good, the bad and the ugly, ‘Look of the Week’ is a regular series dedicated to breaking down the most talked about outfit of the past seven days.
Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman captured the internet’s attention this week with a new shoot for Perfect Magazine.
Kidman, who turned 55 this summer, flexes her impossibly sculpted triceps on the magazine’s cover — a cascade of red hair cascading over one shoulder with a blunt chin part. No power suit or black collar in sight: Kidman is styled in pieces from fashion label Diesel’s Fall-Winter 2022 collection, which debuted at Milan Fashion Week this February – a much-appreciated array filled with trucker hats Y2K inspired denim coat. and belted slacks worn by Kidman.

It’s all in celebration of a new accolade given to her by the magazine. Dubbed the Perfect Icon – one of 23 new awards launched in a bid to highlight the industry’s talent across the board – Kidman is praised for her indomitable curiosity and resourcefulness.
“I make my decisions like a teenager would,” she said in an accompanying interview. “Not considering the consequences. I approach things like, ‘I want to do this, I’m going to try.’ It has had its ups and downs. It actually makes for a really turbulent career — which I’m in.”

Deeply intertwined with narrow standards of beauty, fashion is often considered a youth game — with expectations of what to wear becoming increasingly restrictive as you age. But Kidman said for her, fun takes precedence over fit. “Like I always say, ‘I’m going to do what I want to do,'” she told Perfect. “That’s probably why I click with photographers, as I’m not here for you to stamp yourself, but rather you stamp yourself on me and for us to grow together. Let’s play!”
