MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Montgomery is hosting some of the nation’s and the world’s top tech leaders for a technology-fueled conversation about economic development and entrepreneurship, especially for minorities.
The event was called the “Blacks in Tech and Innovation Roundtable.” The discussion will cover the latest topics such as DEI, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Literacy and more.
Additionally, guests will hear from senior executives from market-leading companies such as IBM, Salesforce, Google, Fearless, EdFarm, Amplify4Good and more.
In Montgomery, we are excited to host senior executives from the largest IT companies making significant contributions to our industry. This event highlights Black IT professionals and entrepreneurs who are shaping our nation and impacting our communities,” said TechMGM Executive Director Charis Stokes.
The event is the result of a partnership known as The Alabama Collective. It was established in September 2021 to protect and expand technology, innovation and entrepreneurship programs across the state, all of which contribute significantly to the success of the economy. The Alabama Summit provides a platform for technology professionals to take a place and discuss technology and innovation in the state, and a platform for minority entrepreneurs to thrive in the tech and creative industry.
The Alabama cluster is led by Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, TechBirmingham CEO Deon Gordon and TechMGM Executive Director Charisse Stokes. “Blacks in Tech and Innovation Roundtable” is scheduled for Thursday, 8 am – 11 am at the Lab on Dexter.
