Since 2009, the National Postdoctoral Association has sponsored National Postdoctoral Appreciation as a day or week to recognize the significant contributions of postdoctoral scholars to research and discovery. Organizations across the country and around the world participate by holding special events.

In conjunction with the National Society’s Statement of Events, themed “Finding Your Balance,” Virginia Tech’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and Office of Research and Innovation have organized several events and opportunities to recognize and celebrate postdoctoral fellows the week of September 19-23. .

Celebration events for the Virginia Tech Postdoctoral Society include the Postdoctoral Appreciation Luncheon held by the Virginia Tech Postdoctoral Society at Claytor Lake State Park and the Inn at Virginia Tech.

This year’s luncheon will provide an opportunity for postdocs and invited faculty and campus leaders to hear from the Office of Research and Innovation and postdoctoral leaders, including Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation Dan Sui, members of the Virginia Tech Postdoctoral Association, and Postdoctoral Affairs Program Administrator Chris Smith.
