3. Members of the New Mexico Tech Mining Rugby Team On August 27, they will participate in a tournament during Tech and Town Fest, which will draw fans of the national championship team.
Several campus and community organizations provided information and resources to New Mexico Tech students at two recent events. More than 70 campus clubs and organizations had tables, displays and demonstrations at the Club and Resource Fair on Thursday, August 25. And local businesses and community organizations hosted information booths at the Tech & City Festival on Saturday, August 27. Also featured is a rugby scrimmage, student and faculty bands, food and activities.
Both events aimed to welcome new students to campus and introduce them to community and college resources. Additional events for students and the Socorro community are listed online during Welcome Week and in an updated guidebook that can be downloaded at: guidebook.com/g/nmtwow/. During “Welcome Weeks” beginning August 14th and ending September 11th, new students are introduced to the campus and Socorro community, clubs and organizations, traditions and activities, and facilities and resources – all necessary for a successful start to life as a New Mexico Tech student.
Members of Alpha Sigma Kappa sorority, Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), hosted a table at the Club and Resource Fair on August 25. Members like study groups, support and advice, movie nights, volunteering activities, networking and travel opportunities.

At the Engineers Without Borders table at the Tech & Town Fest on August 27, members said they will be sponsoring a community service trip to tackle an engineering project this year. Before the outbreak, the group once sponsored a service project in Guatemala.
Members of the Tribeta Honor Society also pointed out the benefits of being part of their team at Tech and Town Fest. Attending conferences, participating in community service, and spending time with club mascot “Simba,” some members of the Biology Honor Society chatted with students at their recruitment table.
