A new business will open in Ripley next spring. It will be a paint and wine business. You can party, have a glass of wine, and draw with your friends and family.
Shelley Jones, one of the owners, described the business.
“Many moons ago, one of my many sisters and I came up with The Twizted Sizters,” Jones said. “I am very happy to include her in this work. She is one of my best friends. We have always dreamed of working together, so I don’t need anyone else to help me. That’s why I wanted to include it in the name. The purpose of the Wine and Paint class is to provide you with the necessary painting supplies to create your artwork with a prescribed instructor. Getting to drink some delicious wine in a fun atmosphere. My goal is to host private parties including birthdays, bachelorette parties, corporate and fundraisers. We’re going to be doing ladies nights out, couples romantic dates, coffee and sails, parent and child nights out, kid nights out and more. You must be 21 years old to drink, which we are obliged to check. I would like to include some delicious wines made locally in our studio. So that will be one of the many things I will be doing in the coming months,” he said.
“I moved to Ripley eight years ago in November 2014. We already bought a house, not in Ripley, but we rode a Harley down St. Rite. 52 ends in Ripley. I had never been there before, but I immediately fell in love,” Jones said. “The houses and buildings had so much character, it sat by the river with great views and beautiful sunsets. Then we drove a little more through town, finding what I now call home. It had a lot of character, including the neighboring houses. I wanted to save. It had massive white pillars, spiral staircases, high ceilings, sat high on a hill in town overlooking the river, the city, and had great views of Kentucky. The house has been sitting empty for over 14 years. The bones were good, but she needed a lot of love. More than I thought at the time. It was definitely a labor of love. Luckily my husband does all that work to make my little dream come true. I sold my other house without hesitation when I bought the house on the hill in town and moved to Ripley instead. A decision I do not regret.”
The new business is located at 6 Main St. Available at In Ripley. Years ago, Ripley’s Gourmet Tortilla Factory was once known as a Mexican restaurant. Ripley’s Women’s Club, which does so much for our community, has a thrift store directly next to Tweed Sisters. Across the street is Snappers Saloon and steps away from Front St. and the Ohio River. Ripley received a grant to build a new 300-foot, two-level concrete boat dock and landing project at their Freedom Park location on Front St. Therefore, all hearts are happy for the new owners.
“I’ve often thought about owning my own business, which would be successful, but I want to do something that benefits everyone,” Jones said. “I wanted to bring something different to our town and something fun for people of all ages. I’ve had so much positive feedback from people in Ripley, just confirming my dream of the idea. I personally love taking wine and art classes and I thought why not? It’s refreshing, fun and It’s a good time and I thought others would enjoy something like this by including some of my own thoughts in it.
We will be remodeling and renovating our location this fall and winter in preparation and anticipation for our grand opening in the spring of 2023,” Jones said. “I have a great grand opening plan for kids and adults of all ages. Including ribbon cutting, food, drinks, open tours, kids art contest, face painting, raffle, door prizes and more!! I’ve always had a love for art.
