The shoe giant announced Friday night that it was severing ties with the Brooklyn Monitor after what it called the team’s inability to “unequivocally say it has no xenophobic convictions” after being suspended by the Nets.
The Nets made that move Thursday, and a day later, Nike took the pick as well.
“At Nike, we recognize that hate speech exists and we condemn any form of discrimination against Jews,” said Beaverton, an Oregon-based organization. With that in mind, we’ve made the choice to end our relationship with Kyrie Irving now and never release Kyrie 8 again.
That shoe should have been given away in the near future. Irving has had a line of branding with Nike since around 2014.
