  • The Jackets earned their highest preseason ranking in program history at No. 9 in the AVCA DI Coaches Preseason Poll.
  • Overall, the ninth place tie for the sixth-highest ranking Tech has achieved in its 42-year history. The Jackets’ selection marks the second consecutive season in the AVCA’s top 10 after being stuck at No. 8 at the end of the 2021 season.
  • The Yellow Jackets have been ranked in 39 straight top 25 polls, reaching No. 6 in that span, the highest mark for the program since 2003 and the third best all-time.
  • Tech was picked by the league’s coaches to finish third in the ACC for the third straight year.
  • Top outside shooter Julia Bergmana second outside hitter Bianca Bertolino and high middle barrier Erin Moss Each was selected preseason All-ACC.
  • Georgia Tech enters the 2022 season on the heels of a historic 2021 season after finishing 26-6 overall and 14-4 in ACC play and advancing to the Elite Eight for the second time in program history.
  • The White and Gold swept three straight NCAA Tournament opponents for the first time in program history in The Citadel, No. 17 WKU and No. 9 seed Ohio State.
  • The Jackets made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since advancing to the Big Dance for five consecutive seasons from 2000-04.
  • It was the 11th time in program history, the second appearance for the Yellow Jackets after an 11-year drought and the second under coach Michelle Collier, on the Big Dance stage alone.
  • Coming off the 2019 NIVC title, Tech has won 58 of its last 70 games.
  • Statistically, the White and Gold are leading in kills (15.18) and assists per set (13.90) in 2021.
  • Tech has three returnees in 2021 in Bergman (AVCA First Team All-American, AVCA East Coast Region Player of the Year and All-Region, ACC Player of the Year and All-ACC First Team), Bertolino (ACC All-Freshman Team) and Breland Morissette (All-ACC Second Team)
  • In the year In 2021, in one of the most decorated individual seasons in Yellow Jacket history, Bergman spent the summer with the Brazilian national team, helping them to a silver medal victory. She finished second in the tournament in serve receptions (137) and led her team in points (139), kills (121), blocks (11), aces (seven) and digs (80).
  • Transfer hitter outside of Bergman, Bertolino and graduates Tally Marmen Both have gained international experience. Bertolino, an ACC All-Freshman team honoree in her first collegiate season, trained and competed with the Argentine national team, while Marmen helped the Israeli national team win the 2022 Maccabiah Games.
  • The Jackets boast 13 total returnees from the 2021 Elite Eight Squad heading into the 2022 campaign.
  • Joining the incumbents are a pair of transfers, 2021 All-Americans Tamara Otten (Illinois State) and Marmen (UCF), with new students dear white, Anna Bozzi And Mikayla White.
  • The reigning AVCA East Coast Region Coach of the Year Michelle Collier She leads the Jackets for the ninth time.

  • Georgia Tech and Ole Miss meet for the first time in the two programs’ history on Friday.
  • Illinois has taken the last four meetings against the White and Gold.

The Jackets officially return to O’Keefe Gymnasium starting on September 2nd hosting the GT Invitational against Dayton (RV), Arizona State and FIU.
