Passenger’s Air Travel Complaints Have Surged By Almost 270 Percent Since The Pandemic

In June alone, there were almost 6,000 complaints to the Department of Transportation. That number increased by 35% from May.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg recently issued a letter to airlines calling the cancellations and delays unacceptable.

Airlines received complaints as they increased their capacity to meet the travel demands. To help avoid delays and cancelations, airlines started getting rid of routes from their schedules.

The DOT has plans to prepare travelers on what to do if their flight is delayed or canceled. They will release a tool that explains “the services or amenities that each of the large U.S. airlines provides” when flights are delayed or canceled due to the airline.
