Redbirds Travel to Wisconsin for Three-Day Tournament


MADISON, Wis – Taking on a loaded field with five teams ranked inside of the top-30 in last season’s rankings, the Illinois State men’s golf team will look to carry its momentum gained from a share of the Island Run Invitational title a week earlier at the 2022 Badger Invitational.

Last Time Out: Behind a near-record-breaking performance from Valentin Peugnetthe Illinois State Redbirds took the team championship at the Island Run Invitational. Peugnet’s 203 is the second-lowest single-tournament total in program history, en route to earning his third career MVC Golfer of the Week honor in the process.

History at the Tournament: In two of the last three Badger Invitationals, the Redbirds ended as the tournament champions, with victories in 2018 and again last season (the 2020 fall season was not played). Last season the Redbirds put together rounds of 286 (-2), 273 (-15) and 297 en route to a three-round 856 (-8). The 273 is tied for the best single round by a team in program history, and the 856 is the 12th-best tournament total.
