Savannah businesses expect an increase in sales over the Labor Day weekend

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Many people in the area celebrate Labor Day weekend by heading to the beach, watching fireworks and eating out.

A lot of people are also buying.

One local business owner said she believes many people will be out for one last shopping spree this weekend before Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer.

Casey Jackson owns Element Tree Essentials in downtown Savannah, where their candles melt into lotion.

The business has only been open for four months, but in that time, Jackson feels welcomed by Savannah residents and tourists alike.

That’s never been more evident than this weekend, as Jackson has already achieved record sales.

“Friday and Saturday we’ve had record numbers so far, so yesterday was really busy, people seemed interested in shopping and coming in and trying candles. Everyone was in a good mood and seemed to be enjoying Labor Day, so yeah, we had a good day.” And the same thing on Friday,” Kasey Jackson said.

Despite inflation concerns, retail experts are expecting Labor Day sales to be higher than last year.

Simplifying supply chain issues means stores have more items in stock, making it easier to sell.
