blacksburg – Looking ahead to Saturday’s game against Wofford, Virginia Tech football met with the media on Tuesday to discuss the matchup and reminisce about last weekend’s win over Boston College. Read below to see what the head coach is Brent Pr and defensive lineman TyJuan Garbutt. He had to say.

Head coach Brent Pr

Opening statement:

“First of all, I want to thank all the hockey fans for coming out Saturday night. I can’t thank them enough. We will continue to do that. The crowd was amazing. The weather didn’t hold anyone back. It was amazing. A Boston College member tweeted: ‘For college footy. I hit the like button. I’m so proud of the fans and what it means to our players. We have two more Saturdays. This weekend it’s Wofford, and they’re a good opponent. I’m. Coached FCS football. For Wofford. I’m so honored. I want everyone to be in full force and it’s Military Appreciation Day, which is a great opportunity for our staff, our team and our fans to honor those men and women who have served and sacrificed so much for our country, so I’m looking forward to Saturday.

How the team continues to improve defensively:

“We’ve got a lot of areas where we need to continue to improve defensively. We obviously have a high level, to me, personally, that’s what I think that class should look like. And we’re definitely not there. But I’m proud of the performance so far and the things we’ve emphasized right now. We’ve got some veterans on that side of the ball. We’ve got some guys that have been in and that really helps a lot. Because of the weapons we have with Tijuan, we’ve been able to do a little bit more with our package than you would normally do in year one. Dax [Hollifield], [Norell] Pollard, Mario [Kendricks] And there are only so many men who have played so much football; Chamari [Conner], Armani [Chatman] And Dorian [Strong]. So, we’ve got the foundation for a really good team. We still have some areas to come up with to be a well-rounded, complete unit.

On this season’s mostly best:
“To consistently work on the technical and fundamental aspects of my game. And then I spent a whole year with Coach Pry. He knows what he’s talking about. He knows what he’s doing because his writing speaks for itself. I think he can be. One of those guys that’s trying to help other guys come up, so to help others. It’s just smart, knowing that I trust the system, and if I trust my coaches, trust what they tell me to do. “It will pay off. To be one of the veterans and to step up and be a leader is to be a leader in a big way.”

On how he and his team want to build on that performance against Boston College:
“It was a good job, it’s the last performance that people see every week, so we put it together. We reduced our mistakes and improved our technical and fundamental mistakes. We took care of football as a team, no. We knew it could happen but we feel like we’re just scratching the surface. We’re cleaning it up and getting back what we tried to do.
