The impact that the drama Squid Game has is pretty impressive. The show became an instant hit among the audience as soon as its season 1 premiered on Netflix. It was dropped last year, 2021, and left everyone intrigued. Now the viewers await the release of the next season.

While it has been making waves not just domestically but overseas as well, looks like there is still a lot more in store for the show and everyone who has worked on it. After winning many awards even internationally, the lead actor and director of the series will soon receive one of the biggest honours in South Korea.

Those who made contributions to the advancement of Korean culture and the arts are recognized with the Order of Cultural Merit. The ceremony will be held on November 2.

Actor Lee Jung Jae will send a recorded message to express his gratitude owing to his foreign commitments, while director Hwang Dong Hyuk plans to participate in the ceremony in person. It comes as big news for all the fans of the show as well.

Squid Game aired back in 2021 and broke many viewership records. Recently, it even made history at the Primetime Emmy Awards as the director of the show, Hwang Dong Hyuk won the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series award whereas Lee Jung Jae took home the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series trophy.
