Bern and Zurich are the best cities to pursue a tech career, according to data released this week by Scotland-based digital skills development firm CodeClan.
The CodeClan study starts with the 100 best cities in the world based on Mercer’s Quality of Living rankings and uses several weighted indexes to determine their suitability for tech workers, including average wages, rents and broadband speeds, as well as tech companies. per capita.

The results show that the two Swiss cities are ranked by the highest number of tech companies per capita combined with the highest broadband speeds. Some of the patterns in the data are easy to see – Australian cities like Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney are penalized for lower average broadband speeds, while lower wages push Japanese cities like Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya higher up the list than their counterparts. It could be a hint.
The data, broken down by category, shows that Codeclan’s analysis used national data rather than national data because all cities in a country were given the same figure.
