New employment data shows that employers are growing their technology teams, reaffirming the role of technology in the business and industry workforce, according to information technology (IT) industry and workforce nonprofit association CompTIA.
Tech sector companies added 25,500 net new hires in August, with growth in five major job categories, CompTIA’s U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) “Employment Situation” analysis shows. The technology industry is projected to increase by 175,700 jobs by 2022 and is on track to grow 46 percent from last year and 92 percent from 2019.

In the technology sector, new hires in the IT services and custom software development job category, which expanded by 14,400 workers, led to August’s job growth. Telecommunications jobs increased modestly by 400.
