Laredoans have been making waves in the arts, music and entertainment industries in recent weeks, and we’ve got another name to keep an eye on, this time in the fashion industry.
Jude Hinojosa, a student at Central Saint Martins Masters Fashion program in London, has been chosen as one of five students whose work will be featured in Dr. Martens, the famous shoe brand announced on Tuesday.
Hinojosa’s delivery for the campaign was based on their summer vacations in Texas, specifically the family road trips that signaled the start of their summer.
“We’d hit the road, listening to music on the car radio. We’d look for the rock and roll station from the next town; we’d go between static and random music until we found it. !” Hinojosa said in an interview with 10 Magazine. “We would always be so excited because when we heard the music, we knew summer had officially begun!”
Also influencing their vision, the looks created for the campaign used upcycled menswear sourced from charity shops, which were then given a new look with Hinojosa’s vision of clothes that move and rub with the wearer , revealing a bright green layer beneath a surface inspired by those. summer memories of rock and roll music of the 50s and 60s.
“I wanted to capture that memory with pieces that move with the user and vibrant pop colors, reflecting the enjoyment we would have listening to this music.” Hinojosa said.
