Waco, Texas (KWTX) – A Central Texas business owner’s weeks of creative skeleton displays are over, but not without much fanfare and big plans for next year.
Automotive Works has spent 21 consecutive Octobers on Franklin Street in Waco, fixing large skeletons with decals and accessories as people drive down the busy street.
One fan wrote, “I miss my daily smile in the morning.
Robert Paciator is the owner of Automotive Works and says Halloween has always been his favorite holiday, so he wants to share that love with others.
“We’re big Halloween people and we host big Halloween parties and we have a really big Halloween inventory,” Pacciatore said. But in the meantime we had skeletons hanging around doing nothing and we decided to use it.
The business owner had many items to use, including eight skeletons of adults, six skeletons of children, five dogs, two birds, two cats, and fish.
The scenes include skeletons washing cars, pretending to be cowboys, fishing and doing limbo.
A friend lent him an antique Porsche so that the skeleton crew could open the hood and do their best work on the cars.
Paciator puts a lot of preparation into each scene, getting to work early to assemble the day’s vision before leaving at closing time.
And while it’s hard to pick a favorite, a few stand out.
“My favorite show this year was definitely the band the first week and then the car wash last week,” he said. “Those two got the biggest hits.”
The automotive expert said the shows are a lot of work, but the response from the community makes it worth it.
“Wonderful. I mean, we get noise and waves all day long,” he said. “Everything is shared on social media, especially on the Next Door app, and a lot of people are responding to it and looking forward to it every day.”
This was the fourth year the skeletons have been displayed in front of the store, but the scenes have become more complex.
“The first year they were just skeletons in lawn chairs waving at cars,” he said. “Next year, we’ll add a little more next year,” so we threw a barbecue pit with them and a skeleton dog, and next year we had some skeleton children. Now, it’s just getting better and better and it’s amazing.
This year, shows have changed daily from Oct. 10 to Oct. 31, and Pacciatore says he has big plans for next year.
“It could be the whole month of October next year. Every year it gets bigger and the people who come stop and wave and knock and take pictures, it starts to create a trend here.
We enjoy doing this for our community just to add a little Halloween spirit.
