Football
Tech football opened the 2022 season with a 23-13 win over UW-Platteville on Thursday at Kerley Stadium. Darius Willis had a pair of touchdown receptions and Steele Fort opened the scoring with a rushing touchdown. The Huskies also scored on a safety. Mark Sippel led the defense with eight tackles. Tech hits the road at NCAA Division 1 St. Thomas for Saturday’s matchup. Kickoff is set for 2pm Eastern.

Volleyball
The No. 19-ranked Huskies went 2-1 at Parkside over the weekend at the Hampton Inn Invitational. Tech had its first game of the weekend canceled midway through the heat in the gym. The Huskies fell 3-1 at McKendree on Friday and then swept Springfield, Illinois and Crookston, Minnesota on Saturday. Jillian Kuizenga and Janie Grindland were named to the all-tournament team. Tech is 4-1 and will host Davenport and Grand Valley to open conference play this weekend at SDC Gym. The Huskies host the Panthers on Friday at 6pm and the Lakers on Saturday at 3pm. Friday’s match is Teacher Appreciation Night in the SDC gym. Local teachers can purchase a ticket and get it free by using the code HuskiesLoveTeachers at BuyHuskiesTickets.com.

Cross country
The Huskies opened the season Friday with two team wins and an individual win at Parkside’s Vic Godfrey Open. Sam Lange completed the podium in 6km 18:27.7 at Clayton Seen and Dew College. Michelle Bolini and Sam Kurkowski finished third and fourth in the women’s 4K. Tech returns to action Sept. 23 at the Roy Greek Invitational.

Football
The Huskies won their final non-conference weekend of the season at Crookston, Minnesota, 1-0 in their home opener and lost 1-0 to No. 9 Bemidji State at Kerley Stadium. Kierson Korinek scored the game-winner from Anna Syracuse for the Golden Eagles. Tech (2-2) opens GLIAC play at Purdue Northwestern on Friday and Parkside on Sunday.
