Tiger Lady of Fashion honors style icons, praises young designers

The Philippine Fashion Circle Awards (PFCA) has been super successful with its objective to recognize, honor and recognize famous Filipino designers in the fashion industry here and abroad who have made the Philippines proud. Held recently at Okada Manila, the PFCA was attended by style icons like Francis Libiran, Oskar Peralta, Frederick Peralta and Becky Garcia, among others.

The next step was to discover the new breed of talented designers through the Young Designers Competition in all parts and regions of the country where the grand champion would receive cash and an international masters scholarship at a famous international design school of fashion in London.

The founder of PFCA was Virgie Monton, owner and CEO of VM Design from Vario Mercato Company Ltd. A construction, hardware and furniture company, she started with a small desk inside her bedroom in 2003 where large projects were offered and won. With its address at the Wack-Wack Condo-6 Star condominium, it furnished and provided carpentry services for kitchens, closets and bathroom cabinets.

Affectionately known to her friends as Mamou, she recognized and honored through PFCA the departed legends and icons of the Philippine fashion industry.

Mamou said: “I believe in Christ Jesus and [believe] that the love of Christ conquers, heals and restores all relationships. I also believe that God is still in the business of sowing and reaping, and I choose to sow and speak life to all and [in] each [area] of my life.”
