VB: Huskies Travel to Southern Miss Invitational.
Huskies face Mississippi Valley State, SFA, Southern Miss Friday and Saturday.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – HBU travels to the Southern Miss Invitational hosted by Southern Miss University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Friday, September 9th and Saturday, September 10th.
HBU will take on Mississippi Valley State at 3 p.m. Friday before returning to the court for two games on Saturday. The Huskies will play Stephen F. Austin on Saturday at noon and will close out the tournament against Southern Miss at 7 p.m.
The Huskies (4-2) are coming off a successful weekend at home for the Molly Howard-Gerwig Memorial Tournament. The offense is guided by redshirt freshman setter Grace McLaughlin who is averaging 10.38 assists per set, while senior outside hitter Anna Gadway is averaging 3.57 kills and 4.02 points per set. Sophomore middle blocker Audrey Pearce has 23 blocks and 37 kills on the year. Junior outside hitter Sarah Brook has 65 kills and a .273 attacking percentage this season. Junior libero Kaley Feris records a .957 receiving percentage and has 69 digs on the season, while sophomore outside hitter Alexia Jones has a .923 receiving percentage and 53 digs so far. Senior middle blocker Jada Allen has 42 kills with an attacking percentage of .349 while freshman outside hitter Shelby O’Neal has 34 kills and 22 digs.
Mississippi Valley State is led by Tyler Caliste with 12 kills and 16 digs. Stephen F. Austin is led by Ielan Bradley with 86 kills and 21 blocks. Southern Miss is led by Mia Wesley who has recorded 116 kills and 135 points so far this season.
