BLACKSBURG, Va. – Not only did Virginia Tech beat Virginia Tech on the football field this weekend, but school leaders also said they had success with their new campus tailgating experience.

Adding a little excitement to game day festivities, the university created a second student entrance to Lane Stadium to try and combat the crowds.

University spokesman Mark Ouzarski said these changes are still a work in progress, but are aimed at providing students with a fun and safe game day experience.

“I think we’re off to a good start and I think our students have responded by saying, ‘We’re going to test things and they’re open to new ideas and new traditions,'” Ouzarski said.

Another idea to help hockey fans adjust to these changes, Owczarski said, is to invite some “hockey legends” to greet students at their stadium entrances.
