Virginia Tech to Live Stream Full Board of Visitors Meetings Starting This Fall | VTX


Beginning with the first full board meeting of the 2022-23 school year — Tuesday, Aug. 23 in Newport News, Virginia — Virginia Tech will live stream all board meetings held in open session, including information sessions for all. Board.

Access to the live broadcast is available on the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors website.

This service provides greater access to these meetings for all members of the university community and the general public across the Commonwealth.

“Our commitment to open and transparent governance is absolute,” said Kim O’Rourke, vice president for policy and administration and secretary of the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors. “This is the university’s duty and responsibility to the citizens of the commonwealth. We are pleased to offer this new resource.”

In full compliance with Virginia law, Virginia Tech will continue to provide public notice at least three days in advance of all board meetings involving three or more board members. Full board meetings held in open session will be streamed live; Board committee meetings and closed-door meetings will not be broadcast live. Written minutes and accompanying presentations will continue to be archived and serve as the official record of all Board meetings.

Board interviews and related materials can be found on the university’s website, as well as the latest news on the board’s code of conduct, bylaws, members, committee structure and board proceedings published by the university.
