Christine Datovich In the year She announced that she will continue her academic and swimming career at Virginia Tech University in the fall of 2024. A native of Virginia, Datovitch is finishing her senior year at Maggie Walker Governor School in Richmond, Virginia. Her high school team recently won the 2022 Virginia High School League (VHSL) Division 3 state title. She also swims year-round with SwimRVA Rapids, also in Richmond.

A USA Academic All-American, Datovitch swims anything under 100, fly or back. She is coming off a highly successful showing at the Winter Juniors – East, where she set personal best times in all but one of her events. Her top finish was in the 50 free, finishing 13th with a personal best time of 22.85. She took 22nd in the 100 free (50.33) and 29th in the 100 back (54.94).

Women’s hockey finished 7th out of 12 teams at the 2022 ACC Championships, and sent nine athletes to the 2022 NCAA Division I Championships. Datovech is on track to finish in multiple events at the conference, as her best times in the 50 free and 100 fly put her in the C-finals at last year’s ACCs. Virginia Tech scored 38 points in the 50 free and 26 in the 100 fly, meaning they were relatively mid-level impact events for them.
Virginia Tech’s sprint team is deep this year, with five athletes already in the 50 free under 23.00. The current Sprint team is led by a grad student. Madeleine Moore and primary Carmen Weiler Sastre, this year was 22.45 and 22.52 respectively. High See Franz He swims 52.94 at the Ohio State Invitational in November and leads the team in the 100 fly. Of that group, only Sastre will still be on campus when Datovitch arrives in 2024.
Datovitch joins. Amanda Barnard At Virginia Tech, Like Datovitch, some of her best times were projected to score at ACCs, especially the 400 IM and 1650.
