4-star D Dylan Spencer flipped from Texas to Texas Tech

#FlipWatch Houston CE King announced that four-star defensive end Dylan Spencer has flipped from the Texas Longhorns to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Monday.

Spencer was the second player in the 2022 class to commit to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, but following visits from Houston and Lubbock, his decision seemed to waver in recent weeks.

Despite assuring Jerry Hamilton that he was 100 percent committed to Texas, Spencer took an unofficial visit to Houston without informing the Texas coaching staff.

The turn of events prevented Texas from fighting Spencer’s decision to pursue other options, as Spencer traveled to Lubbock last weekend for an official visit and accepted an offer from the Red Raiders.

Spencer’s flip means the first two players committed to Sark 2022 end up elsewhere, with four-star safety Jamel Johnson flipping to TCU.

Texas still has four defensive linemen committed, but three projects are edge rushers, leaving Cedar Mitchell as the only interior defensive lineman. Although T’Vondre Sweat and Alfred Collins parted ways after next season, Sark seems content to stay in place for the time being.
