Those in the know, know: With cool-girl labels like Ganni and Rotate populating the calendar, Copenhagen Fashion Week has been rewriting low-key style codes for the seasons — and Spring 2023 is no exception. That’s exactly why we’ve compiled the runway trends that are inspiring Scandis to dress as stylish as they can – and made them shoppable, for instant gratification. From ’90s-inspired cargo pants and cowboy boots to exposed nipples, there’s something for everyone here, whether you tend to err on the right or slightly outrageous side. Check out the seven trends we’re seeing below.
Cargo pants
Remember those wide loads you may or may not have rocked in the 90s and/or early years? Well, it’s time to get them out of your closet because, according to Gestuz and Samsøe Samsøe, utility pants are back—and, this time, the more pockets, the better. Comfort aside, what we love most about this trend is the versatility: pair yours with flats for a casual daytime look, or platform heels for a night out—dare we say dancing to the era’s R&B icons like Aaliyah and TLC.
Socks and sandals
Disruptive, sure, but the socks and sandals combo continues to reinvent itself from fashion faux pas to runway must-have. Double it up with chunky sneakers and sandals from Baum und Pferdgarten, or go subtle (and office-appropriate) with a clean sock in the same shade, as the models did at Lovechild 1979.
Easy suit
Back-to-office mandates can be daunting, and that’s without taking into account the wardrobe change. Thankfully, the easy fit seen in Mark Kenly Domino Tan, Remain and Helmstedt offers a middle ground between comfort and togetherness. Choose a colorful yet neutral shade, like a deep blue or peachy pink, and let the compliments roll in on your morning date.
Crochet balls
On extremely hot hot days, hand-woven tops with interlaced yarn loops can be just the cutest way to let air flow. Remain and The Garment are two collections that featured crochet on the top, and sometimes on the bottom. Think of it as a more sophisticated festival style look.
Flower brooch
Add a little something extra and a little romantic with a floral brooch, featured here at Saks Potts. Multiple options for how to wear it, from the neck and wrist to the top strap embellishment. The choice is yours.
Exposed nipples
Tell a little, or a lot. Conceptual knitwear brand A. Roege Hove has amassed a nipple-liberating cult following like you’ve never seen before. These NSFW dresses, jackets and tops offer the most coverage, so you can decide how sheer or dark you want to go.
Cowboy boots
We’d argue that no guest left the Ganni Spring/Summer 2023 show without seriously coveting a pair of cowboy boots. Everyone’s favorite Scandi label brought western vibes to CPHFW with a modern take on classic style in cherry red, aqua and two tone colors. Yes, indeed.
