7 health tourism hotspots in KwaZulu-Natal

As the travel industry reopens, more environmentally and health-conscious consumers have emerged seeking holistic experiences. This was highlighted in a December 2021 report by the Global Wellness Institute, which predicted annual growth of 20.9% in health tourism from 2020 to 2025 – focusing on personal care and beauty, spas and retreats.

Felisa Mangu, chief executive of South Coast Tourism and Investment and Enterprise, said: “After the prolonged global health crisis, it is entirely understandable that people are prioritizing overall safety when considering travel options.” “Tourists are looking to support organizations and destinations that are committed to the green economy, where sustainability is a key factor. On the KZN South Coast, where we support the rich biodiversity conservation and community work, there are endless opportunities. Wellness tourism offers.”
