Aigbe, Shaggi, others motivate youth at African Fashion Week

The African Fashion Week, which was held from 7 to 9 September 2022, witnessed the display of African fashion in all its glory.

The event, which held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, was aimed at promoting the diverse Nigerian fashion culture while partnering with the Lagos Fashion Fair.

The week featured over 60 designers from across Africa. On the first day, guests hit the red carpet and took turns browsing the fabrics, jewelry and other fashion items that were on display at booths and booths on site. The red carpet session was followed by a fashion show where models took to the streets in outfits by designers such as Modesty Signature, Adire Odua Ready To Wear and Glue by Nasir Elias.

On the second day, the models came out in traditional clothing as well as children’s clothing by Laura and Mo. There was also womenswear from Liquid Fashion and Design. Popular host of the show, Denrele Edun, was also on hand to thrill the audience as he talked about his journey in the fashion industry.

Other highlights of the event include designer and stylist, Toyin Lawani aka Tiannah’s masterclass sessions, while popular actress, Mercy Aigbe, spoke on the importance of training in film schools in order to identify their strengths, rather than simply entering the film industry without training.

Popular sketch producer Samuel Perry aka Broda Shaggi also advised the youths that they don’t have to own cameras before becoming content creators. According to him, they can start with their phones.

Guests at the event include Funke Bucknor and Hazel Onou, aka Whitemoney.
