As Tampa Bay’s tech boom continues, AnyDesk, DeliverHealth open headquarters in Clearwater

White sandy beaches, clear blue water and sunshine are what most people think of when they think of Clearwater.

Emerging as a leading tech region in Tampa Bay, Florida, Clearwater is slowly building a reputation as a tech hub. In July, German-based technology company AnyDesk opened its US headquarters in Clearwater.

“Florida is the place to be in technology right now,” said JD Merzinger, vice president of AnyDesk Americas. “New talent is constantly emerging at schools like UCF, USF and Florida PolyTech and will push Tampa to become a tech city.”

AnyDesk started its journey in 2011. In 2012, the company’s three future founders developed a fast and reliable way to connect people in a virtual workplace and remote desktop software solution. The company was officially launched in 2014. Today it is one of the leading remote desktop solutions in the technology market, with over 200 employees, 100,000 customers and offices in Germany, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Georgia and here in Tampa Bay.

In addition to high-speed and secure connections, AnyDesk offers its customers solutions such as remote support, remote work and remote maintenance.

“We’ve helped bridge the gap between safety and productivity,” says Mersinger.

Florida’s growing tech economy and Florida’s overall work-life balance are just a few of the many reasons that attracted AnyDesk to Clearwater.

“We think we’re the next technology space,” said Denise Sanderson, Clearwater’s director of economic development and housing. “Tampa Bay has really grown its tech culture over the years.”

Its growing reputation as a hot tech market continues to attract companies. In June, healthcare software and services company DeliverHealth moved its headquarters, originally in Madison, Wisconsin, to Clearwater. In a press release, the organization cited “growing technology and greater access to resources and talent.” DeliverHealth also opened a customer experience center in Clearwater with more than two dozen employees and more on the way.

“All kinds of companies benefit from consolidating in one area, which is what we’re seeing with technology growing in Tampa,” Sanderson said.

According to AnyDesk, the company is opening an office in Tampa. As they establish their corporate presence in the Bay Area, Mersinger says it’s an ongoing goal to build their services as their clients’ needs grow.

“We want to provide excellent customer support,” continued Mersinger. “As these interests grow, we are looking to expand into North America, South America and Central America.”
