Chamber News: Chamber Collects Business Background | Verde independent

I love how our staff’s diverse backgrounds and experiences bring a high degree of professionalism to their work, representing Sedona Junction and the qualities that make us unique.

On September 20th, we hosted our first “Meet the Chamber” event at the Mary D. Fisher Theater where Chamber members and non-members stopped by to learn about what makes the Chamber successful for Sedona. I could see the audience’s eyes light up as they met in person.

For example, among our employees are individuals whose children were born and raised in Sedona and whose spouses run small businesses in town. Some workers are relatively new and are thanking their lucky stars that they still live and work in Red Rock Country, or have joined from other countries and cultural backgrounds. Others have been here for decades and have the right local knowledge to help inform our policies.

While it is true that we are in and for the community, I always remember that we are also of the community. He was beaming at the event. If you participate, thank you! Building those one-on-one relationships leads to a better understanding and a more well-informed class.

In case you missed it, whether you’re a member or not, we have tons of events coming up for you in October, and of course, we’re always open to welcoming new Chamber partners (we currently have over 730 active members).

On October 5, social media manager and content creator Eric Nguyen will host “Harnessing the Power of Social Media.” Eric offers expert advice on building a social media presence that creates buzz and impacts your bottom line. Thanks to Arizona Public Service, the workshop is free with coffee and pastries. at the Mary D. Fisher Theater at 2030 W. SR 89A from 8:30 – 10 a.m. Register for this and other upcoming events at SedonaChamberEvents.com.

October 6th brings our Partner Benefit Review, a 9 am online session with Erin Bruce, Director of Partner Services. We offer such a variety of services to members that it’s important to regularly set aside time to make sure everyone is aware and taking advantage of all the benefits of membership.

A week later, on October 12th, I am pleased to announce that our annual partner meeting is coming to VOC with a breakfast event in the Canyon Ballroom at the Hilton Sedona Resort in Bel Rock. It’s a big event on our calendar where hundreds of members gather for a continental breakfast and explore the key issues, awards and recognition for Budget 22 and plans for FY 23. Special keynote speaker Jim Round, statewide economic expert and consultant, and a panel of community leaders will engage and inspire. Doors open at 7:30, and presentations begin at 8 a.m. Partners, please register in advance.

That evening we will co-host Sedona mayoral candidates Samair Armstrong and Scott Jabolo at the Sedona Performing Arts Center at 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road. Led by the League of Women Voters of Northern Arizona, the forum will follow our June and July candidate events leading up to the August primary election. This is all part of our commitment to community service.

I look forward to welcoming you the following morning, October 13th, for our monthly coffee chat at 8 am at the Chamber offices at 45 Sunset Drive. Show up bright and early for a stimulating discussion on any issue that concerns you. Due to time and space constraints, we will limit the chat to four people to give everyone time to share ideas and get answers. Please register in advance at SedonaChamberEvents.com

October is one of our favorite months, with the summer heat becoming a memory and plenty to do around Sedona. We hope to see you at some (or all) of our events!
