You are listening to the Expresso Entertainment Update. Here is the latest news from the world of Bollywood brought to you by The Indian Express.
“Let us begin this bulletin with news on Brahmastra.

The Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-starrer had a fantastic opening weekend and even passed the Monday test but on its first Tuesday, the film witnessed a drop of 15 per cent, as per Bollywood Hungama. The publication reported that Brahmastra made between Rs 12.75 crore-13.75 crore on its fifth day, taking its total beyond Rs 150 crore. The film was released in five languages in India and its south versions have managed to bring in Rs 17.50 crore so far.

In the first three days, Brahmastra managed to earn Rs 120.75 crore domestically.

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva has been directed by Ayan Mukherjee. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. ”
“Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva might have taken eight years to release since it was first announced, but the sequel will be back on the big screen, faster.

The film ended after teasing its sequel titled Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev.

Since Brahmastra hit cinemas, the internet has not only been flooded with fan theories about how Brahmastra will move forward but also, who will play Dev, the antagonist.

Several names have been tossed around, from Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh to Ranbir Kapoor, who fans believe can play a double role, that of the son Shiva and the father Dev.”
“Meanwhile,

No one can have enough of Shah Rukh Khan, and Ayan Mukerji knows it. The superstar’s special appearance in Brahmastra has left fans as well as the entire internet wanting more of his character from the big-scale fantasy epic.

In Brahmastra, Shah Rukh is featured as scientist Mohan Bhargav, a hat tip to the actor’s character from Swades—who wielded the Vanarastra.

In an interview with indianexpress.com, Ayan Mukerji teased that the beloved character might be back on screen. “Before the fans were saying it, we were also saying that ourselves. As we discovered the personality of the scientist, we said, ‘We have to do stuff. We have to do the origins story of the scientist!’””
” National Cinema Day, which was earlier scheduled for September 16, has now been postponed to September 23 and it is suspected that the reason for the same is the roaring success of Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra. It was earlier announced that on National Cinema Day, many multiplex chains would be offering tickets at Rs 75.

The Multiplex Association of India shared a note on social media saying that “on request from various stakeholders and in order to maximize participation,” they have postponed National Cinema Day. With Brahmastra’s release, the footfalls of theatres have increased after a long time so it seems like the theatre owners want to maximise their share since the film has been pulling in huge audiences.”
“Last year, Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut took a jibe at Swara Bhasker and called her a ‘B-grade’ actress. Swara reacted to the comment in a sarcastic tone and called it a ‘compliment’. Recently, when the Veere Di Wedding star was asked about the same, she said she doesn’t have a problem with whatever Kangana said because she was exercising her democratic right of freedom of speech.

In the latest episode of The Bombay Journey, Swara was asked why despite being co-actors in two films, Kangana attacked her on Twitter. Swara replied, “Kangana is a frank girl and I am also a frank girl. So, we talked. She put across her opinion and I did mine, so it’s all good.””
“In other news,

Ever since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Kohinoor has been trending on Twitter with many saying that the Britsh should return the diamond to India as they allegedly stole it from India before it became independent. Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon also took to Twitter on Tuesday as she shared a clip from John Oliver’s show where he spoke about Britain stealing artefacts, and many unique possessions from various countries and claiming them as their own.

Sharing the clip, Raveena shared on Twitter, “Just fantastic! His Punchline. The entire British museum should be declared an active crime scene!” John Oliver’s segment where he spoke about India’s claim over the ownership of Kohinoor first aired in 2015. ”
“Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput gave fans a glimpse of their fun-filled banter with each other while shooting an ad together. Shahid took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot.

In the video, Shahid said, “Something seems off… what’s my line”. Next, he was sitting next to Mira, with her portable fan. He continued, “This is Madam’s fan. Madam doesn’t sweat but she needs it for cooling. Madam will cut my salary as her hair is flying in the wrong direction,” while Mira laughed at his commentary.”
“We end the bulletin with some news on Kareena Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, who both belong to the first family of Bollywood but the two actors are known for being stars of their respective generations. Recently, the aunt-niece shared the screen for a new project and took to social media to announce it to their followers.

Kareena took to her Instagram stories and shared a selfie with Neetu and wrote, “When you shoot with family…”. Neetu reposted the story with “Loveee her.” She shared another photo with the caption, “This shot is more important than the real shot.” She shared another photo as they relished their food in true Kapoor fashion.”
