You are listening to the Expresso Entertainment Update. Here is the latest news from the world of Bollywood brought to you by The Indian Express.
“We begin today’s bulletin with news on writer Varun Grover who has called for experts to monitor the violent sequences in movies, especially those featuring women. Grover, known for penning Neeraj Ghaywan-directed Masaan and Netflix series Sacred Games, said filmmakers and content creators need to take proactive steps to sensitise actors about scenes involving violence against women.

Grover said here, “There are intimacy coordinators today who choreograph intimate scenes in films and shows, inform the actors what they are going to do and how it will be done. Similarly, we need experts to choreograph and coordinate scenes involving violence and its impact on the audience so that violence in our cinema does not become a medium for normalising it” “
“Meanwhile, veteran actor Neetu Kapoor will grace the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 this weekend and will join judges Karan Johar, Madhuri Dixit and Nora Fatehi. A video shared by Colors shows Neetu getting nostalgic after Niti Taylor’s dance performance depicting the love story of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The weekend is titled ‘Kapoor special’.

Ranbir-Alia’s journey is depicted in a stunning performance by Niti Taylor and choreographer Akash Thapa. Niti also resembled Alia in terms of clothing, since she was sporting a white and gold lehenga and an identical hairstyle. The duo performed on Ranbir’s song “Khuda Jaane” from the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno.

“In other news, the 1.46-minute-long teaser of Om Raut’s upcoming movie Adipurush has faced a lot of criticism for misrepresenting Lord Ram, Sita, Ravana and Hanuman. People are calling for a ban on movie which has Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. But Raut has assured the audience that he and his team have done “nothing wrong in this film”.

Raut tried to defend the portrayal of Ravana in Adipurush. A lot of people have compared Saif’s look in Adipurush to Ranveer Singh’s Khilji in Padmaavat.
Talking to India Today, Raut assured, “We want to introduce the story of Lord Ram to the world. We want to spread his teachings among the youth.”

“In other news, after making her mark as an entrepreneur, Navya Naveli Nanda has now turned into a podcaster with What The Hell Navya. In a recent interaction with indianexpress.com, the 24-year-old shared that she was very excited to venture into this new medium. Her mother Shweta Bachchan and grandmother Jaya Bachchan have also joined Navya on the podcast.

She shared, “I think the three of us were excited. This is something we do at home every single evening. So, it was also something that came across very naturally. The concept of it and the idea. So I think that excitement was the overall emotion for all of us,””
“Speaking of Navya Naveli, Bollywood actor Jaya Bachchan appeared on granddaughter Navya’s podcast ‘What the Hell Navya’, and talked about how two years of the pandemic gave her two new best friends. While talking to Navya and Shweta Bachchan, the veteran star said she has “not lost anything in the last two years”.

She started by saying, “In the last two years, my best friends have been Navya and Shweta. I can say anything I like to them, and they will tell me off, especially Shweta. Somebody telling you ‘I don’t agree with you’ is important. I would want to grow at this age too.””
“Next up, Sham Kaushal recently took a trip down memory lane and shared an old photo featuring sons Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Kaushal, and superstar Shah Rukh Khan, all in one frame. The picture was from the sets of the movie Asoka and Shah Rukh can be seen in his costume, while young Vicky and Sunny posed beside him.

Sham wrote in the caption, “By God’s grace this photo was taken in 2001 during the shooting of Asoka in Film City. Nobody ever imagined that one day Vicky will join the film line & in 2022 both will be winning Best Director & Best Actor Awards Shershah & Sardar Udham. Destiny & God’s blessings”

“We end this bulletin with news on Shilpa Shetty Kundra. The actor recently shared a video of her lighting fire to an effigy of Raavan on the festival of Dussehra. She also wrote a heartfelt caption along with the video, wishing that everyone’s problems get burnt away.

In the video, Shilpa is seen burning the effigy with her son Viaan and quickly retreats once the effigy catches fire. She is also heard telling other children to step back. Going by the video, it seems like Shilpa celebrated Dussehra in her backyard. She captioned the video, “Since it is Raavan-dahan today, you must burn away all your worries. Let’s begin with new memories on this occasion. Happy Dussehra to all of you.”
