Houston – On Monday, Houston area residents finally got a break from the cold weather that gripped the Christmas weekend.
But for others, the weather was simply a break from what they were used to.
“It was beautiful,” said Keith Imperingham, who was visiting Sugar Land from Toronto.
It’s a problem many families in our backyards are now dealing with, which Toronto residents say they’re dealing with “well,” broken pipes.
For Zelena Brown, the weekend was crazy and exhausting with all the service calls to her family’s plumbing company.
Asked how many calls her company has seen in the past three days, Brown didn’t hesitate to respond.
“I don’t even know. I can’t count,” she said.
One problem with this cold weather unlike 2021 is that it happened on Christmas, which meant everyone was home and spending time with their families.
KPRC 2 Investigates spoke with several plumbers, but all but two were out of the office on Monday.
Brown and her family weren’t surprised.
They said they chose to spend their vacations on the ice and ice on weekends because they knew many of their colleagues were talking.
“We actually worked a 24-hour shift and took care of everything we could and started two hours later,” Brown said.
According to Brown, the damage being reported is different from February 2021.
“Last year, most of the pipes were internal, causing a lot of damage. This year, the pipes are external, making service calls faster.”
