If you are looking for a way to recover deleted Instagram messages, keep browsing. This article covers several quick and easy-to-follow ways to recover your DMS.

Recover deleted Instagram messages using Instagram data

If you want to keep things clean and clear out often or accidentally delete your DMS, sooner or later you may need to retrieve it. There are two ways to do this, the first is by using Instagram data.

When you delete your messages, they disappear from your iOS or Android device but remain on Instagram’s servers. You can download this saved data using “Instagram data”, including recordings, photos and messages. From this information, you can identify your deleted messages.

Before we begin, it is important to note that you must follow these methods on the Instagram website, as the universal applications do not take this cycle into account. How is everything going?

  • Open the Instagram website in your program of choice, then sign in to your account, which may not be complete at the moment.
  • Right-click on the “Profile icon” in the upper right corner of the screen, and then, select “Profile” from the menu.
  • Click the “Change Profile” button.
  • Select the “Protection and Security” option from the pop-up menu on the left side of the screen.
  • Look at the menu and find the “Download data” section. Click on the option under this heading “Request Download”.
  • Enter your “email address” in the text box and select your download format (“HTML” or “JSON”) and click “Next”.
  • Verify your identity by entering your “Passphrase” and clicking “Download Application”.
  • Instagram will then, at that time, send you a link that will take you to the data files you mentioned.
  • Browse your email and look for a message from Instagram titled “Your Instagram Data”. Tap the “Download Data” button.
  • The link will take you back to Instagram to download your data. Enter your “Login Credentials”, then click on “Login”.
  • A page will load, giving you the link to access your information. Click on “Download Data”.
  • Open the downloaded envelope.
  • For the HTML option, go to “Messages -> Inbox -> [named folder], then click on “Messages html record” at that point. For JSON selection, skip to step 15.
  • The opened document should display all messages stored on Instagram servers using HTML design.
  • For the JSON option, open the “messages.json” document in the Content Tool – right-click and select “Open with…” or “With…
  • The opened archive shows all messages currently stored on Instagram servers using the JSON format.

Each of your messages on Instagram can be found in the “Messages” envelope as a zipped download.

It is important to note two things about this method. To begin with, Instagram may take up to 48 hours to send your information using email. Try not to panic if the email doesn’t appear in your inbox right away. Likewise, the communication will expire four days after you receive the email. If you click on the link four days after receiving the email, it will not work, and you will have to reinstall the above methods.
