Loews Hotels & Co. Chairman and CEO Jonathan Tisch, Chairman of the Loews Corporation Board and Owner of the New York Giants, will share his thoughts on The Crossroads: A Blend of Business and Philanthropy on Tuesday, November 15, at 4 p.m. in the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater with Dr. Phillips. Discussion organized by UCF in partnership with philanthropic organizations.
Tisch is a national leader in the multi-billion dollar hospitality industry, a pioneer in the field of corporate citizenship and a prominent philanthropist. Loews Hotels & Co., in partnership with Comcast NBC Universal, owns eight properties at Universal Orlando Resort.
The Central Florida community, including all UCF alumni, is invited to attend the program and hear Tisch share his thoughts on a variety of topics. Special emphasis will be placed on how successful businesses and entrepreneurs can improve their communities and address sustainable social issues through philanthropy. The event is free to attend, but space is limited, and attendees must reserve a seat in advance at foundation.ucf.edu/crossroads.
The program will be conducted as a fireside chat with Tish and moderator Barb Bowden, Managing Director of Loews Hotels Universal Orlando.
During his tenure as chairman and CEO, Tisch led Lowes’ expansion and emergence as a well-known and respected hospitality company. He was selected as the World’s Hotelier by Hotel Magazine.
Under Tisch’s leadership, Lowes Hotels launched the hospitality industry’s first comprehensive community outreach program known as the Lowes Hotels Good Neighbor Policy. The program establishes a company-wide commitment to uphold a culture of good corporate citizenship and social responsibility in the areas where Loews Hotels operates.
Through the Good Neighbors program, Lowes hotels have addressed issues such as hunger, literacy, sustainability and housing at the local level. The program received the Lowes Presidential Service Award, the highest honor given by the President of the United States for community service to address critical social issues.
The Crossroads Series began in 2021 as part of a long-standing partnership between Dr. Phillips Charities and UCF. It brings nationally recognized, respected philanthropic and business leaders to Central Florida so that UCF students and the Central Florida community can learn from their expertise and perspectives.
The series combines some of the greatest strengths of each of the organizations: Dr. Phillips Charities’ critical roles of free enterprise and philanthropy to address critical community needs, and UCF’s commitment to unlocking the potential in each individual and fostering a broader movement. – Prosperity based.
Dr. Phillips Charities has been a UCF partner since 1968, the first year UCF held classes. Dr. Phillips’ name has been a major economic and philanthropic presence in the Central Florida community for more than 100 years.
