Since being crowned Miss Universe 2021 in January, Harnaaz Sandhu has been making the most of her time in New York City.
And over the past few days, she’s been taking center stage at New York Fashion Week, soaking up the glamor as she attends the show alongside some A-list stars.
Sandhu has shown excerpts from the shows she participated in, as well as her outfits.
On Sunday night, she was supporting beauty queen Miss Universe Canada, Amelia Tu, who was showing off her sustainable brand of fashion. Sandhu wore a black leather jacket layered over a chic pink-red jumpsuit for the occasion, which was attended by other Miss Universe delegates.
“I’m in awe and I really can’t believe what I just saw,” she said in an Instagram Story after the show. “And the way they’ve used and reused fabric and made it sustainable, it was just amazing. What a great show.”
On Saturday, she was at the showcase of Indian brand Falguni Shane Peacock and went backstage to admire the new collection of lehengas.
She wore a look by the designer for the occasion, in a black mini dress with silver sequin embellishment and a cropped feather skirt. She teamed the look with dark sunglasses, black stilettos, a black clutch bag and diamond earrings.
That same night, she was also present at Indian-American designer Naeem Khan’s show, along with actress Kate Beckinsale and American model Pat Cleveland.
She wore an icy blue, figure-hugging mini dress embellished with hundreds of diamonds, featuring a plunging neckline and plunging shoulders, accessorizing with pointed metallic heels and a white leather chain bag.
In January, Sandhu won India its first Miss Universe crown in 21 years, and its third overall. She has traveled the world since winning the title, and has also made several trips back to her home country.
In August, she returned to Mumbai to crown the winner of the Miss Universe India pageant, Miss Diva Universe.
The title was won by architect Divita Rai, 23, who came second to Sandhu last year.
Except for fashion week, Sandhu has been busy fulfilling her Miss Universe duties in New York, a city she visited for the first time after winning the title.
Speaking of national team in January, she said: “I’m in New York for the first time, so I’m still exploring the city and exploring the organization. I got to go out and visit Central Park – it’s a very nice moment for me.”

During her appearance on the show, Sandhu also spoke about “menstrual equality”, a cause she has passionately promoted since winning the crown.
“It’s destigmatizing the conversation,” Noah told him. “A lot of people from all over the world live in a world where they can’t talk about something that is a normal part of a woman’s life every day. And you really played a role, not just in India, but around the world. saying we need to get rid of that stigma.”
