Monster is currently facing issues with its theatrical releases in the Gulf. While the UAE is considered to be one of the biggest markets for a Mollywood film, the film featuring one of the biggest superstars of South cinema Mohanlal is facing hindrances since it failed to impress the censor board. If reports are to be believed, it will be facing a ban in the country but there has been no official confirmation from the makers.

In the past, many films faced this issue including Sita Ramam owing to different reasons. Monster is expected to be a crime thriller with many elements of the action entertainer. The film has been facing issues because of the LGBTQA+ references. It seems that this content is facing objection from the censor board. In fact, certain reports also suggest that the filmmakers are considering resending the film for certification in UAE after modifying certain portions of the movie. In such a case, the release date in UAE may be pushed further since it will take some more time for the rescreening and the rest of the formalities to be completed.

Monster features Mohanlal in an action-packed role of Lucky Singh. It also stars Lakshmi Manchu, Lena, Honey Rose, Siddique, Sudev Nair, K B Ganesh Kumar, as well as Jess Sweejan in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Vysakh with a script written by Udaykrishna and produced by Antony Perumbavoor through Aashirvad Cinemas. It is slated to release on October 21.
